Bow to the Bow

"Oh hey look, I still need to collect my free birthday gift from Sephora. I'll just stop by the mall and then do other errands. I'll only be 15 minutes"- The Lies We Tell Ourselves

Three hours later, I emerged. Arms covered in eye shadow samples, mismatched painted nails, and about three different hair colors in in my highlights. (But through some electronic mishap miracle I got a $23 brush for $3, so that was awesome and completely justifies the entire obsessive experience.)

What took me so long? A major contributor was  Sephora's Hello Kitty Make Up Collection. I don't know a lot about make up, but I know that I only wear makeup I get excited about wearing, and at the end of the day Hello-Kitty-themed packaging has more of a sway in this than it ever really should. I mean, I've been looking to wear more bronze eye shadow anyway, right?

Liquid Liner Lovin'

Urban Decay 24/7 Liquid Liner in Woodstock (Pink)

At long last! A Pink Eye-Liner! I was on a quest for the perfect (preferably UV-Reactive) Neon Pink Eyeliner... but apparently the magical ingredients of neon have not yet been FDA approved for eye use in the US. Bummer. Big government ruining our cosmetic endeavors. Until then, if you're willing to sacrifice glow for subtle metallic glitz, it's great to finally find a really eye-popping bright pink liner.Seriously, why aren't there more?

Wonder Woman's Magic Make Up?

It seems the GeekChic trend has finally found its way into our cosmetics products...And I for one, am certainly not complaining. Actually, I'm pretty freakin' ecstatic. Introducing: the Wonder Woman Collection from MAC.

Pretty Bottles and Clever Color Names aside, does it actually have anything to do with Wonder Woman? Would Wonder Woman feel offended that she is being used to market make up and not a Bra Burning device?  Oh, who cares. Until they actually come out with Magic Bangles* what better way to get a daily boost of power and punch out of your makeup bag. (And really, what is make up but 80% Packaging anyway?)

*Or a Magic Lasso...but seriously though, why a Lasso? Was the hole symbolic or something? Was a sword too phallic? Was she too lady-like for an actual, lethal weapon?

Endangered Eye Make-Up?

Since this weather is the best thing to happen to New Englanders since the invention of the Cotton Gin, I thought I would share one of my own favorite summery products: Urban Decay Big Fatty Colored Mascaras.

I got this mascara about two years ago in Black Cherry (AKA Magenta) and loved it. You don't notice it much indoors if (like me) you have dark brown eyelashes, but go outside on a sunny day and the effect is hard to miss. Sadly I haven't seen the colored versions available on the Urban Decay or Sephora websites for awhile, though you can still find them on random cosmetics sites. Dear Urban Decay, if you are thinking of ceasing to manufacture these all together, I beg of you, DON'T! Just tell me what it takes and I WILL DO IT!

Magnetic Nail Polishes, How Do They Work?

The Perfect Accessory for one of ICP's girlfriends, I give you, the greatest possible application of Modern Science:

I'm not sure if the magnet is really necessary to obtain such a simple, striped look but there is certainly some serious creative possibility here. (Or at least I'd really, really like to think so). Just a Fad? What do you think?

One thing is for sure, we probably won't be seeing these in lighter shades anytime soon...
