Bow to the Bow

"Oh hey look, I still need to collect my free birthday gift from Sephora. I'll just stop by the mall and then do other errands. I'll only be 15 minutes"- The Lies We Tell Ourselves

Three hours later, I emerged. Arms covered in eye shadow samples, mismatched painted nails, and about three different hair colors in in my highlights. (But through some electronic mishap miracle I got a $23 brush for $3, so that was awesome and completely justifies the entire obsessive experience.)

What took me so long? A major contributor was  Sephora's Hello Kitty Make Up Collection. I don't know a lot about make up, but I know that I only wear makeup I get excited about wearing, and at the end of the day Hello-Kitty-themed packaging has more of a sway in this than it ever really should. I mean, I've been looking to wear more bronze eye shadow anyway, right?

Putting the Pizza in Pizzaz?

When I was about seven (you know, that age you ascribe to basically all of your childhood ranging from five to 12...or maybe that's just me) I wanted to design a series of perfumes that were all based on foods. They could come in cute combinations, like peanut butter and jelly, or a 'pizza' base with a variety of mix-and-match topping add-ons.

Apparently, about a decade and a half later, my infantile dream was nearly realized. Thanks to Pizza Hut Canada, we now have "Eau De Pizza Hut" (Hand to God, that's the real name), a Pizza-Scented perfume. That impossible-to-shop-for person on your Christmas list? Check.

Glitter Bow Glasses

Things I have mixed feelings about: glasses as accessories for people who don't actually need vision correction. Thinks I like: Glitter, Bows, Glasses with Bows, things-technically-designed-for-tweens-but-oh-well-I'm-going-to-wear-it-anyway.

Now if only they were actually prescription...

Catch a Falling Star

...Or maybe a falling fashion blogger?  I have yet to actually try on and successfully walk in a pair of magical and mystical heeless pumps. I should probably get on that.

But anyway, I could take this time to blab on about how awesome my kindred spirit Greg Selkoe is, or further philosophize on the Lorena-Bobbitization of the high-heeled shoe, but instead I'll just show you these awesome and adorable Jeffery Campbell 'Starynite' shoes available on karmaloop.com. Who needs a traditional, penis-shaped heel when instead you could use an adorable metallic star heel? This is by far the cutest and least creepy heeless platform shoe I have seen yet.

Good Morning, Charlie!

If your inner geek and/or Bond Girl was tittilated by our classy Swarovski-Studded USB necklaces, then you'll appreciate this more casual  (yet every bit as bad-ass)  Punk alternative. Not sneaking into a formal gala this evening? Driving a speedboat to the mastermind's private island then scaling the walls of his castle while fending off 12 armed guards? This might be the better accessory choice. Charlie would be proud.

What a Jem!

If you ever wished you were the lead singer of an 80s rock band who also had super powers, owning this purse may be the closest you ever get. Star Earrings and the rest of the Holograms are sadly not included.

Cue Bond Music

What? Sorry,  I couldn't hear you over my BAMF secret agent skills, which have landed me a mission where I must keep computer codes critical to the nation's security on a  USB drive disguised as an expensive Swarovski Crystal Necklace. After I sneak into the multi-billionaire's mansion during his charity benefit (using my sexual allure, of course) I will subtly scope out the library for trap doors leading to...Well, you get the idea.

But if you just want a pretty way to keep 4GBs of  your most recent work project or resume on hand at all times, I guess this works for that too. Oh, and the plastic bit? Actually made of Sillicon. Valentine's Day in the Valley? This is the obvious choice.

Clear's The Thing IV

When a naughty Bag and Boombox decided to mate and create an illegitimate bastard child, this is what happened. Except clearly the result was not  at all a circus freak, and instead a genetic evolutionary mutation that will be embraced and honored for decades to come. Yes, it plays music from your iPod. Yes, it's available in a half dozen neon colors. Yes, it screams "Portable Beach Party" (...or maybe that's just me.)

Clear's The Thing III

Most of the time when someone says Chanel, I think of the subtly elderly (though never out of style) quilted purses my Mom used to wear in the late 80s. Well, kudos to you,  Karl Lagerfield, this is no longer the case.

Clear's The Thing I

I'd like to say I saw this coming. When I was about 10 I bought a hot pink, see-through plastic purse from forever21 and cherish it to this day. A decade later (gasp. *insert quarter life crisis here.*) the rest of the world seems to have caught on. In the next few posts, I share the height of transparent awesomeness, as we move towards a futuristic society where "fabric"  is slowly becoming obsolete, and big brother is always watching.

(Why he cares about the veins on your feet though, I have no idea. Was Big Brother a Foot Fetishist? Now that's a thesis that needs to be written.)

Yup, I'm a DesiGirl

With Betsey Johnson sadly going out of business, there was a deep and aching void left in my soul for favorite designer. This void was filled in about .009 femtoseconds, however (Sorry, Betsey), by Desigual. Not only are the designs as original and colorful as the city they hail from (Barcelona), but most of their tops and purses actually retail for solidly less than $100. Factor in their Marilyn line and Cirque Du Soliel collaboration, and I was sold.

So if you were ever looking for an Urban, mostly black-and-white, trench coat with a metallic blue waist band and colorful artsy detailing, look no further. Fun fact: "Electro Magie" is french for "Electro Magic" (I think.)

CADtastic

What could possibly be better than the nylon diamond necklace pendant that playfully outlines only the shape of a diamond shown below? I dunno, maybe the fact that the entire charm is 3D-PRINTED. A GeekChic must-have for all Chic Geeks indeed. And just when I thought I was probably going to be forced to choose between my love of hot clothes and hydrocarbons...

Apples of My Eyes

We really should have seen this coming. First it was heart-shaped sunglasses, then someone realized they could stick a little stem on top of the exact same mold and make apples. Or maybe they took a cue from the Bible to cover up their sinful throbbing hearts of cartoon-character lust with its metaphorical genesis counterpart. If only Snow White had these- preferably with poison detection powers.

Charming!

I am a huge fan of the Juicy Couture charm collection. They're brightly colored and create some really original charms that you would never find from a more serious brand (eg- Hot Pink Statue of Liberty, Beer Can). There is also a large variety of creatively used materials- clear resin with crystals for a melting Popsicle, a pearl for a bubble, etc. Even the starter bracelets and necklaces come in an amazing variety of colors, including many shades of neon and iridescent magical rainbow (or 'multi'... you know, whatever you wanna call it) . I recommend getting the necklaces over the bracelets though, just because the charms are large and clunky and I would hate for them always be clacking against each other.

Sign of the Times?

A new (or retro 80s?) twist on an old favorite! I want one and I hardly ever even shop at Bloomingdales! (Then again, maybe as time goes by the words 'retro' will mean a shorter and shorter period of time in the past, as technology increases at an exponential rate and we approach the singularity?)

Strike!

Hot Pink, See-Through, Platform Bowling Shoes/ Loafers....Except actually an attractive and brilliant idea. I am really enjoying the current renaissance of colorful, transparent plastic materials.(I realize these don't fit quite into that category, but close enough). Now if only they made mini poodle skirts...

Tick-Tock Heart Clock

So I just realized that I just posted about a hypothetical engagement ring, and am now posting a heart-shaped necklace that literally contains a ticking clock. Subconscious Sabotage much? I hope not. How about just a gift for the Cowardly Lion in all of us?
